Give Max Payne 2 a kung fu enhancement
The Kung Fu Evolution Mod is a free mod for Max Payne 2-themed around martial arts. New levels, new fighting mechanics, and a set of familiar pop culture characters have all been added to the game.
While Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne is based on shooting, this mod turns it into a kung fu game. Fans of the original Kung Fu Fighting game should feel at home.
Add new martial arts adventures to Max Payne 2
Kung Fu Evolution is a mod that adds much more than a cosmetic overhaul or modified gameplay mechanics to Max Payne 2. With it installed, the game features nine new story levels and 16 characters, each with a unique fighting style. On top of this is a sophisticated fighting system called Deep Kung Fu.
Deep Kung Fu
The Deep Kung Fu system utilized by the mod makes use of over two dozen individual moves. These can be mixed and matched to suit your playing style. These player movements include punch strings, combo enders, multiple types of jump-kicks, plus self-defense techniques, including dodges, sidesteps, blocks, and parries.
A cast of characters
The sixteen new characters added to Max Payne 2 by this mod include some familiar pop culture figures. You will be able to play as Bruce Lee, Jackie Chan, Neo from The Matrix, Wolverine from X-Men, and more besides. Some characters come with their own individual weapons, but most come with at least one alternate costume.
A free mod with much to offer
Like many fan-made mods, Kung Fu Evolution suffers from a few technical hitches. The enemy AI is crude, and hit detection is sometimes inaccurate. Even though the mod is free of charge and provides a substantial set of new levels and characters, there are still a few minor downsides.
